Daily STREAM Activity: Sundial
Learn how to tell time the old-fashioned way!
Activity best for children age 3 and up
Use the power of the sun to tell time by making a sundial! This can be done anywhere using household materials.

Materials you’ll need:
Marker
Paint
Paper Plate
Paintbrush or stick
Directions
STEP 1
With help, cut a small hole in the center of a paper plate.
STEP 2
Paint your paper plate however you would like and then let it dry.
STEP 3
Find a stick or paint brush and place it in the hole in your paper plate so that it stands up straight.
STEP 4
Put your sundial on the ground in a north facing area outside with lots of sunlight. Using a marker, trace the shadow of your stick/paintbrush every hour on your paper plate and watch it move! Practice telling time!
