Daily STREAM Activity: Leaf Symmetry
Practice your attention to detail!
Activity best for children age 5 and up
When something is symmetrical it means it looks the same on both sides. If you were to draw a line down the center of an object or a picture, the halves would look like mirror images of each other. Today you are going to make your own symmetrical art using leaves.
Materials you’ll need:
Paper
Tape or glue
Scissors
Leaves
Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
Directions
STEP 1
Collect some leaves from outside. They can be any size or shape.
STEP 2
Carefully cut the leaves in half (lengthwise).
STEP 3
Tape or glue half of the leaf onto a piece of paper.
STEP 4
With your writing tools, draw the other half of the leaf.
