Daily STREAM Activity: Mystery Sounds
Listen closely and practice your listening skills!
Activity best for children age 3 and up
Test your listening skills by playing a mystery sound guessing game! This can be done anywhere using household materials.
Materials you’ll need:
Materials to make sound
- Pom poms
- Cotton balls
- Coins
- Paper clips
- Beads
- Leaves
Containers
- Toilet paper rolls
- Cups
- Jars
Directions
STEP 1
Discuss your 5 senses. What are they? Why are they important? Why is listening important?
STEP 2
Find small materials around your house that you think would make an interesting sound.
STEP 3
Put your items into containers.
STEP 4
Make sure you cover your containers so you can’t see what is inside.
STEP 5
Test your listening skills! Shake your containers and try to guess what is inside.
BONUS
Make it a game! Who can guess the most mystery sounds? Who can guess that mystery sounds the fastest?
