Fun Animal Friday Jumping Rabbit Craft
This rabbit craft is earresistible!
Activity best for children age 2 and up
Rabbits are very interesting animals and we have some fun facts about them! Rabbits are social animals so they like to live in big groups. They dig their homes underground with lots of tunnels called warrens. Rabbit teeth never stop growing and when they chew on grass and vegetables, like carrots, their teeth get worn down. Having long ears and eyes on the side of their head means they can watch for predators. Rabbits are great jumpers and a leaping rabbit craft is the perfect craft to highlight that!

Materials you’ll need:
Two paper cups the same size
Two rubber bands
Pom Pom or cotton balls
Colored paper
Marker
Glue stick
Scissors
Directions
STEP 1
Ask a grown up to help you make 4 slits in one of the cups. This is where the rubber bands will go to help your bunny “leap”. Cut the rubber bands in half. Slide them into the slits and tie a knot on each side so that the rubber band does not move out of the slit.

STEP 2
Time to make the bunnies ears. Cut out two ear shapes from paper. These will be larger than the next two ears you cut out. Glue the smaller ears into the larger ears and then glue the ears to the cup.

STEP 3
You can use google eyes or draw eyes on your bunny with a marker. You can also cut out a paper nose. Use the marker to make the whiskers.

STEP 4
Glue the cotton ball or the pom pom to the back of the cup. This will be the bunnies tail.

STEP 5
Place the cup with the rubber bands and the decorated bunny on top of the other cup that is upside down. This upside down cup is the base that will launch your jumping bunny. Press down on the top bunny and let go! Did your bunny leap high?
