STREAM Activity: Father’s Day Trophy
Happy Father's Day!
Activity best for children ages three and up
Father’s Day is a special day celebrated to honor fathers and father figures for their love, support, and guidance. Let’s show our appreciation for them by making a trophy with materials found at home!
Guiding Questions:
How can we meaningfully celebrate Father’s Day by recognizing and honoring all types of paternal figures in our lives?
What traditions do you have with your father that you do to celebrate Father’s Day?
Materials:
Scissors
Tape or Glue
Black marker
Tin foil
1-2 pipe cleaners
Two paper cups
Washi tape (optional)
Directions
Step 1
Start by gathering the materials for your Father’s Day trophy.
Step 2
Next, grab your two paper cups and wrap them in tin foil.
Step 3
Now, glue or tape the bottom of the cups together to make a trophy shape.
Step 4
Time to decorate your trophy! You can add as much color as you would like. We used washi tape to decorate our trophy.
Step 5
Let’s add the handles! Grab a pipe cleaner and cut it in half. Then, tape one end of the pipe cleaner to the top cup and the other to the bottom cup.
Step 6
To finish off your trophy, write the name of the father figure you want to gift this trophy to. You could write “#1 Grandpa” or “Best Uncle”. The options are endless!
