STREAM Activity: Kinetic Sand
What color kinetic sand will you make?
Activity best for children ages 4 and up
Kinetic sand is a fantastic sensory play activity that provides hours of entertainment at home. Today we will be making kinetic sand with three simple ingredients you can find at home!
Materials:
Cornstarch
Sand
Vegetable oil
Tray
Measuring cups
Food coloring (optional)

Why do you think we need to add cornstarch to our kinetic sand?
Can you tell the difference between kinetic sand and regular sand?
Directions
Step 1
Start by gathering your materials! You can use any type of sand, we used play sand.
Step 2
Once you have gathered all your material you will start by adding 2 cups of sand and 1 cup of cornstarch into a tray and mix them. Onced you mix them you can add drops of food coloring if you would like to add color and continue mixing.
Step 3
Once you are done mixing the sand and cornstarch you can add 1/2 cup of oil and mix until it’s ready.
